I like to try new things. When I go to a market, not only do I go to buy handmade goodies, I go for ideas.  For me, the market is like a live version of Pinterest. The challenge of figuring out how something is made is what moves me.

My journey into soapmaking began on a market day.  I was drawn by scent to a wooden rack filled with stacks of rustic bars of soap. The beautiful ruggedness of it had me by the heartstrings. Patchouli and mint and rosemary, oh my, I want my life to smell like this!

After that trip to the market in 2013, I started researching. I watched videos and read blogs, and made notes for a whole year before I tried to make my own soap.

 

My first attempt at soapmaking was a basic recipe with grapefruit and lemon essential oils. I poured that small batch into a silicone bread pan and waited... The next day I finally got to cut it; I loved the way the knife just slid through that soap loaf like a block of firm butter, I loved the scent combination, I loved that I could just go and smell them anytime without having to go to a mall. Now I just had to be patient enough to let it cure until it was truly ready to use. 

 

That same basic recipe is a version of what I create today. I have tweaked it to become my signature SIMPLE SOAP recipe. I create visually appealing soaps and body products that smell great!
